Terms of Service

TripToad is a trip-planning workspace. You organize a trip (locations, transportation, lodging, restaurants, and activities) on a shared itinerary and map, keep documents and receipts with it, track costs in cash and reward points, and plan together with the people going. TripToad helps you plan and organize travel; it is not a travel agency, a booking site, or a seller of travel. Your bookings are always with the airline, hotel, or other provider directly.

You need an account to plan trips. Sign-in runs through our authentication provider, and you are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your sign-in method secure, and tell us if you think someone else is using it. TripToad is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the service.

Use TripToad to plan real trips. A few things are not okay:

• Breaking the law, or using TripToad to help anyone else break it;
• Uploading content you do not have the right to share, or content that is malicious, harassing, or deceptive;
• Trying to break the service (probing, overloading, scraping, or interfering with TripToad or with other people’s trips and accounts);
• Impersonating someone else, or misusing invitations to get into trips you were not invited to.

If something crosses these lines, we can remove the content or suspend the account (see “Termination” below).

Your trips are yours. The itineraries, notes, places, photos, documents, and other content you add to TripToad belong to you, not to us.

So that the app can work, you give TripToad the permission (a license) we need to store, process, back up, and display your content, including showing it to the people you share a trip with, according to your sharing choices. That license exists only to operate, improve, and support the service. When content is deleted from the live service, private account data and private uploaded files may remain in disaster-recovery copies for at most 30 days; the local backup cache keeps at most 14 days. Safety records and public cover images have separate retention boundaries described in the Privacy Policy. We do not sell your content and we do not use your trips for advertising.

You are responsible for what you upload. Only add content you have the right to share. If content breaks these terms or the law, we can remove it.

A trip is shared like a shared document. When you invite someone to a trip, everyone on that trip can see its shared content, including the itinerary, places, documents, and expenses. Owners and Editors can also see linked collaborator email addresses; Viewers cannot. There is no per-item privacy inside a trip.

Roles control what people can do: some people can only view, others can edit. Invite links grant access to whoever opens them and expire after a set time, so do not forward yours. You choose who to invite. Anything you add to a shared trip is visible to everyone on that trip.

AI processing requires your separate, affirmative consent to the current AI processing policy. You can withdraw that consent in Settings to stop future AI processing. Agreeing to these terms does not grant that permission.

Some TripToad features use AI: generating an informational Trip Brief after trip creation, turning a pasted booking email into draft itinerary items, suggesting how to organize your trip, and an in-trip assistant you can ask questions and ask to make changes. AI can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Always verify availability, prices, entry requirements, and other critical details with the airline, hotel, venue, or official source before booking or traveling.

The automatic Trip Brief is stored as informational content, but it does not create or change itinerary items, ideas, tasks, bookings, expenses, or trip structure. Imported bookings and other suggestions arrive as drafts you accept or discard. When the assistant wants to change your trip, it does not make the change: it shows you exactly what it would do, and the change happens only when you confirm it, and only if you could make that change yourself. Where a change can be reversed safely, the receipt offers Undo for a short window; where it cannot, the receipt says where to make the change by hand.

If an AI feature is unavailable, TripToad tells you and adds nothing. It does not stand in sample or placeholder content.

Where TripToad puts AI in front of you, you will see a notice like this one:

TripToad may earn a commission when you book through some links in the app. Wherever that is true, we say so right next to the link, never buried in a footer. The disclosure looks like this:

An affiliate relationship never changes the price you pay, and it never changes what your trip shows. Your itinerary is yours, not an ad surface.

Everything in TripToad today is free to use. We do not sell any paid plans or features yet. If we introduce paid features, we will add clear terms for them here (pricing, renewal, and cancellation) before anything goes on sale, and paying will always be a separate, explicit choice, never a surprise.

You can stop using TripToad at any time. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, abuses the service, or creates a legal or security risk for TripToad or its users. Unless the situation is urgent (for example, an active attack on the service) or the law prevents it, we will tell you what happened and, where reasonable, give you a chance to take your data with you first.

You can delete individual trips and their contents in the app at any time. To delete your whole account, open your profile and request account deletion. The recommended mode disables normal account use immediately and gives you seven days to restore the account before permanent deletion begins. You can instead choose immediate permanent deletion, which cannot be restored after fresh confirmation. Completion is recorded only after TripToad verifies the required deletion steps. The current process is described on the account-deletion page and in the Privacy Policy. You can also download an export of your account data from your profile (“Download my data”) before you go.

TripToad is provided as-is, while it is actively being built. We work to keep it accurate, fast, and available, but we cannot promise it will always be online or bug-free, or that any piece of information in it (imported bookings, AI suggestions, maps, opening hours, prices) is complete, current, or correct. Travel details change constantly: confirm the things that matter (bookings, availability, prices, entry and visa requirements, schedules) with the provider or official source.

Here is the plain version of what a liability clause means: if something goes wrong, there is a limit to what TripToad can owe you. To the fullest extent the law allows, TripToad is not liable for indirect or consequential losses (a missed flight, a non-refundable booking, lost profits, or lost data) arising from your use of the service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of USD 100 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (today: nothing, because TripToad is free). Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you. Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law says you always have.

These terms are governed by California law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes arising from these terms or your use of TripToad will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, except where applicable law requires otherwise. Nothing in this section limits rights or protections that applicable law does not allow you to waive.

These terms will change as TripToad grows, especially when AI, affiliate, or paid features launch. When they do, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change meaningfully affects your rights, we will tell you in the app (or by email) before it takes effect. Using TripToad after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
